matt + erika {family}

This is one of the last sessions I squeezed in before the snow took our beautiful fall away. After dozens of emails, Erika and I were finally able to connect our schedules (this is how it rolls with two working moms); a certain little boy's black eye healed and the rain stayed away! Never mind the sub zero temperatures.
I met up with Erika, her husband, Matt, their two kiddos and her parents at the Trethewey House last weekend. What a gorgeous bunch of people to work with! Not only did they stay warm, but they stayed warm in style. This is one thing I'm loving about fall/winter photography....the scarves, coats, and cuddles to keep warm...it lends a totally different feeling to a session.
Matt + Erika ~ it was great to finally meet you. Hope you and your family enjoy these photos, and Erika, if you ever need to get rid of that coat...I'll gladly take it off your hands ;)

april + anthony {maternity}

It's been a while since I have done a maternity session, so I was pretty excited to meet up with April + Anthony last weekend. Their baby boy will be joining them early in the New Year and they were eager to document this stage of the pregnancy in case little buddy made an early arrival.

There were a few challenging elements to this shoot: the weather (about -12 with windchill), and for me personally, indoor shooting. I am not a studio gal, but because of the temperature and our hopes of getting some more cozy, intimate shots, we did end this session in my bedroom (no studio, but some decent natural light). I was actually pretty happy with how everything turned out, mind you, I was working with a beautiful, glowing mama -to-be, and a daddy who was pretty obviously in love with his lady and her growing bump.

April + Anthony ~ You guys were amazing. I know lots of other people who would not have braved that chilly day so gracefully. April - you are beautiful. Honestly. Excited to meet your little man next year....
